DRESS UP 2011

DECEMBER  2010  WE  SAID  GOOD-BYE  FOR

THE  LAST  TIME  TO  ALICE  CAMILLA  FOR

HOSTING  THE  DRESS  UP  CHALLENGE.

DRESS  UP  2011  WOULD  NOT  HAVE  BEEN  IF  IT  WERE

NOT  FOR

ANGELA

AT  SEW  LOQUACIOUS.

Angela  added  a  new  flavor  to  this  year's  challenge.

There  will  still  be  a  new  theme  each  month,  but  this

year  the  THEME  WILL  BE  ART  INSPIRED.

This  month  it  is  IMPRESSIONIST  ART...or  design  your

DRESS  based  on  movement.

I  chose  this  beautiful  example  that  ANGELA

listed  as  an  example  on  her  blog.

TWO  DANCERS  ENTERING  THE  STAGE

BY~  EDGAR  DEGAS

I chose  his  work  both  for  Grace,  Beauty,  and  the

stunning  costume.

I  looked  at  those  stunning  costumes  and  ask  myself,

"Debbie...have  you  lost  your  mind?  You  have  only  been

doing  ATC's  for  6  months!"......Well  I  say  TRY  and  TRY  big.

I tried  over  and  over  again  to  have  Walker,  my  official

studio  assistant   be  the  second  ballerina  but  he  was

too  occupied  with  butterflies  that  were  fluttering

all  around  him  and  my  dress...................

A  little  Angel  sent  many  butterflies  to  carry  the  dress  off

the  heap  of  redoes  and  tell  me,

"THIS  DRESS  WILL  DO!"

This  is  the  sweet  neckline  and  the  waist.

My  dress  is  made  from  a  light  grainy  grey  paper  glued  to

card  stock.  It  is  then  covered  with  white  vintage  lace  and  the  neck

is  a  scalloped  decorative  lace.

The  waist  line  has  paper  magnolias  with a  red  simulated  ruby

in  each  center.

It  doesn't   show  clearly  in  the  picture  but  there  are  lots  of

ruffled  tulle  with  tiny  silver  stars.

It  looked  so  enchanting  and  had  movement.

A  PICTURE   IS  SNAPPED

A  COMPLETED  PAPER  DRESS

THE  ANGEL  SINGS

THANK  YOU  SO  VERY  MUCH  FOR

DROPPING  BY  TO  SHARE  THE  SHOWING

OF  SIMPLY  DEBBIE'S

JANUARY  2011

DRESS  UP.

THANK  YOU  ANGELA  FOR  ALL  YOUR  HARD  WORK.

AND  KEEP  YOU  UNTIL  WE  BLOG  AGAIN.

HAVE  A  SUGAR  SWEET  DAY

HUGS

Such a cinderella dress with that pretty tulle skirt. Can't imagine why Walker didn't want to cooperate. Thanks for coming over and appreciate you leaving such a nice comment on my blog.

What a great way to interpret this challenge and a great way to start the new year. I felt the challenge was a bit too restrictive for me this year, but I love how you interpreted it. I was being too literal, as always.

Thanks for stopping by. So, where in KS are you moving to? I am in Wichita, but I assume you know that. Just a hop, skip, and a jump onto the interstate to McPherson, too!
