WATER OF LIFE

HOW  MANY  OF  YOU  REMEMBER  YOUR  FIRST  HOUSE????

Our  first  house  was  a  12  x  50  mobile  home,  which  my  Mother-in-law  and  father-in-law  financed  for  $2,800.00  in  1975.  We  lived  in  apartments  prior  to  that.

We  thought  we  were  up  town  kids.   We  had  our  first  baby...Amy...on  the  way  and  our  bathroom  was  light  purple...tub,  sink,  toilet...it  was  gorgeous.  Every  room  was  paneled  and  the  second  bedroom  would  become  the  nursery.

The  coolest  thing  is  that  it  had  SHAG  CARPET  THAT  YOU  HAD  TO  RAKE!

I  think  that  today  the  real  estate  agent  would  describe  it  as...vintage  but  outdated  BUT  it  has  good  bones.

The  Spirit  and  the  bride  say,  "Come"  Let  each  one  who  hears  them  say,  "Come"  Let  the  thirsty  ones  come--anyone  who  wants  to:  Let  them  come  and  drink  the  water  of  life  without  charge.
                            ~Revelation  22:17

We  all  know  when  the  north  winter  wind  blows  in  Oklahoma,  and  the  snow  dances  with  the  ice,  it  results  in  frozen  pipes,  while  we  are  asleep  under  cozy  covers.

HAVE  YOU  EVER  HAD  FROZEN  PIPES?????   Well  that  is  the  time  to  LAUGH  LIKE  AN  IDIOT  AND  PRAISE  THE  LORD  AT  THE  SAME  TIME.  (a  merry  heart  doeth  good  like  a  medicine!)

Have  you  noticed  it  is  at  the  very  moment,  you  have  no  water...you  become  sooo  very  thirsty...and  you  stare  at  the  faucet  as  if  you  stare  long  enough  it  will  begin  to  pour  forth.....not  gonna  happen.

Our  fozen  pipes  happened  when  Amy  was  three  years  old  and  Richie  was  not  to  be  born  for  4  more  years.
As  the  story  goes,  my  little  daughter  and  I  rode  with  Richard  70  miles  to  a  Wal-Mart.   Our  purchase  was  to  be  a  BLOW  TORCH--THAT  IS  MAN'S  WAY  OF  HURRYING  THE  PROCESS  UP...so  they  don't  have  to  listen  to  the  nagging  wife...
Let  me  just  say  this:  Proverbs  15:1  says,  "A  soft,  gentle  answer  turns  away  wrath;  but  harsh  words  stir  up  anger.

Proverbs  18:4  says,  A  person's  words  can  be  life  giving  water;  words  of  true  wisdom  are  as  refresing  as  a  bubbling  brook.  In  the  middle  of  a  storm,  isn't  it  precious  to  know  your  words  can  be  life  giving  water.

I love  this  scripture:  Proverbs  18:22   WHOSOEVER  FINDETH  A  WIFE  FINDETH  A  GOOD  THING  AND  OBTAINETH  FAVOR  OF  THE  LORD!!!!

There  are  many  scriptures  in  Proverbs  for  men  about  nagging  wives...but  this  is  a  loving  blog...not  bashing.

As  we  pulled  into  our  driveway  from  our  140  mile  round  trip...I  could  not  believe  my  eyes....I  had  to  look  twice  as  I  COULD  NOT  BELIEVE  THE  AMOUNT  OF  WATER  THAT  WAS  POURING  FROM  OUR  MOBILE  HOME...it  looked  like  a  houseboat  speeding  out  across  the  water.   My  husband  got  the  water  turned  off  as  I  put  Amy  into  galoushes...she  squeeled  with  delight  that  we  would  fill  our  house  with  water  for  her.  We  swept  the  water  out...we  vaccccuuummmeeed  water  out,  pulled  our  shag  carpeting  out...had  to  replace  floors...it  was  a  mess.

Our  little  mobile  home  was  gradually  restored  with  new  pipes,  flooring,  tile,  carpeting  but  we  did  keep  our  light  purple  sink  and  tub...we  replaced  the  toilet,  sadly.  Our  daughter  had  the  time  of  her  life  and  we  stayed  with  grandmother  and  papa  at  night.

As  I  was  praying  for  the  victims  of  Hurricane  Sandy,  our  little  trailer  came  to  memory,  but  it  cannot  even  compare  to  what  these  precious  people  have  lost, and  basically  have  no  where  to  lay  their  head  this  CHRISTMAS  Season.

ISAIAH  43:2  STATES,  WHEN  YOU  GO  THROUGH  DEEP  WATERS,  YOU  WILL  NOT  DROWN  AND  WHEN  YOU  GO  THROUGH  THE  FIRE  YOU  WILL  NOT  BE  CONSUMED  BY  THE  FLAMES.

I  pray  my  little  story  blesses  someone  today.

My  prayers  and  love  to each  of  you.

Hi Debbie,
Thank you for sharing the story about your little mobile home - I am not surprised that Amy found good in the plumbing disaster and had fun splashing in the water. God blessed her with a special gift and beautiful attitude even when she was so sick.

I think of her often especially when I see one of God's creations in a beautiful pink sky or fluffy pink clouds - I just know that it is Amy zooming around on her magic pink bicycle watching over us. Her courage and beautiful attitude made a lasting impression on me and played a big part in my personal healing when I was so sick.
May God bless you and your family with healing and good health.
Wishing you a Joyful and Merry Christmas.
Love and Blessings,
Erin

That's a great story, Debbie. I can really relate to it too. Our first home was also a mobile home - 12 x 60, and it had orange shag carpet. We got it in 1973, and Emily was born in 1974.
We've also had our share of frozen pipes in years past.
I love the way you related your story to the Bible verses. I can't imagine having to deal with the problems those poor people have had with Hurricane Sandy or any natural disaster.
