"WHO WOULD STEAL FROM A GRAVE?"

XOXOXOXO
AMY

I  WAS  WRITING  OUT  "LATE" VALENTINES  DAY  CARDS,  AND  THEN  HAD  TO

LEAVE  TO  GO  WITH  MY  DH  TO  HIS  DRS.  APPOINTMENT  IN  OKC.   WE  THEN  WENT  TO

2  THRIFT  SHOPS.  I'LL SHOW  WHAT  WE  FOUND  ON  ANOTHER  POST.  I  TALKED  WITH

GIRLS  AT  BOTH  PLACES, WHO  SAID  THEIR  DONATIONS  WERE  "WAY  DOWN!"

********
WE  STOPPED AND  HAD  A  LOVELY  LUNCH  AT  THE  COUNTRY  BUFFET.  (THAT  IS  WHERE

AMY  HAD  HER  LAST  BIRTHDAY  DINNER  IN  JULY  2009  BEFORE  HER  TRACH  AND

FEEDING  TUBE.)

********

LUNCH  WAS  A  HOOT.  THE  RED  HAT  SOCIETY  WAS  HAVING  A  MEETING  AND

LUNCHEON   IN  ONE  OF  THE  PRIVATE  ROOMS....THEY  WOULD  ALL  COME  OUT

TO  FILL  THEIR  PLATES  AND  GET  DESSERT.

THERE  WAS  ONE  LADY  THAT  HAD  TO  BE  IN  HER  SEVENTIES  AND  LET  ME

TELL  YOU,  SHE  WOULD  MAKE  A  TEEN-AGER  JEALOUS......ONLY  SHE  WAS  A

CROSS  BETWEEN  MISS  KITTY  ON  GUN  SMOKE,  A  DASH  OF  LADY  GAGA,  AND

SIMMERED  IN  AUNT  BEA  FROM  MAYBERRY.   SHE  WAS  HAVING  A  TAD  BIT  OF

TROUBLE  WALKING  IN  THOSE  HEELS....I  WAS  SCARED  SHE  WAS  GOING  TO  SLIP

ON  THE  TILE.   HER  STRAWBERRY  RED  HAIR  WAS  SWEPT  UP  WITH  A  PLUMAGE

BOUQUET  OF  RED  AND  PURPLE  FLUFFY  OSTRICH  FEATHERS. SHE  HAD  ON  GLOVES

THAT  LOOKED  LIKE  THEY  HAD  BEEN  SEWN  FROM  RED  NETTING  WITH  THE  FINGERS

OUT.   VERY  LALA  FOO  FOO.

ONE  COULD  NOT  HELP  BUT  BE  DRAWN  TO  HER.

********

ALL  THE  WOMEN  WERE  BEAUTIFUL.....SOME  JUST  HAD  RED  SHOES  ON  BUT  I

SUSPECT  THEIR  BOAS  AND  HATS  WERE  IN  THEIR  LUNCHEON  ROOM.  ALL

LAUGHING  AND  HAVING  A  GOOD  TIME....JUST  AS  LIFE  SHOULD  BE.   IT  WAS  SO

VERY  MUCH  FUN  SEEING  THEM.   I  HAD  MY  CAMERA  BUT  I  WAS  NOT  GOING  TO

INVADE  THEIR  PRIVACY.

********

BEHIND  US  WAS  TWO  TABLES  OF  EIGHT  WOMEN/   16  TOTAL......WHO,  WHEN  THEY

FINISHED  EATING  PULLED  OUT  THEIR  CARDS  AND  STARTED  PLAYING.  THESE  WOMEN

HAD  CARD  HOLDERS  FOR  THEIR  HANDS.  THEY  WERE  SERIOUS  PLAYERS....RICHARD

WANTED  TO  GET  OVER  TO  THEIR  TABLE  AND  I  WANTED  TO  JOIN  THE  RED

HAT  SOCIETY  GIRLS.

WE  WERE  BEGINNING  TO  THINK,  (ALTHOUGH  THE  BUFFET  HAD  THE  SAME

NAME  AND  GOOD  FOOD),  WE  WERE  IN

A  SENIOR  CITIZEN'S  HOME......AND  WORST  OF  ALL:

"WE  LIKED  IT!"

********

WE  HAD  PLANNED  ON  THE  WAY  HOME  TO  STOP  AT  AMY'S  RESTING  PLACE  AND

REMOVE  HER  GRAVE  BLANKET  AND  THEN  TAKE  THE  SNOW  MAN  AND  WREATH

OFF  THE  THE  WHITE  HEART  MADE  OF  HEAVY  ROD,  PAINTED  WHITE.

THE  VERY  SECOND  WE  ENTERED  THE  ROAD  THAT  WENT  TO  AMY'S  RESTING

PLACE  WE  WERE  BROKEN  HEARTED.  SOMEONE  HAD  STOLEN  THE  WHOLE  WHITE  HEART

WITH  THE  HOME  INTERIOR  SNOWMAN,  THE  BEAUTIFUL  WREATH...PERSONAL  CARDS

AND  TOKENS  MY  MOTHER  AND  MY  HUSBAND  AND  I  HAD  LEFT  AND  SAID  TO

AMY.   THEY  ALSO  TOOK  THE  CANDY  CANES  AND  LEFT  THE  GRAVE  BLANKET.

********

I  ASK,   "HOW  LOW  DO  YOU  STOOP  TO   STEAL  FROM  A  GRAVE?" "HAVE  YOU

LOST  ALL  COMPASSION  FOR  MAN  KIND?"  THAT  LITTLE  GRAVE  IS  SACRED

GROUND....YOU  DON'T  STEAL  FROM  GOD!   MY  DAUGHTER  MIGHT  NOT  NEED

THOSE  THINGS  ON  HER  GRAVE,  THIS  IS  TRUE  BECAUSE  SHE  IS  WITH  THE

"LORD  JESUS  CHRIST,"

BUT  WE  WANT  A  PRETTY  PLACE  TO  COME  VISIT  MY  DAUGHTER,  AND  MOTHER

HER  GRANDDAUGHTER.  THAT  IS  HOW  WE  SHOW  THE  LOVE  OF  OUR

DAUGHTER  IS  TO  PUT  PRETTY  THINGS  THAT  SHE  LOVED  AT  HER  GRAVE......WE

CAN'T  BUY  HER  PRESENTS,  WE  CAN'T  HUG  HER,  ALL  WE  CAN  DO  IS  LEAVE  LITTLE

TREASURES  FOR  HER......NOT  FOR  YOU  TO  VIOLATE  AND  STEAL  WHAT  YOU  WANT.

I  CAN'T  EVEN  THINK  OF  A  WORD  FOR  SOMEONE  WHO  STEALS  FROM  ANOTHER'S

GRAVE.  I  FEEL  SO  VERY  SORRY  FOR  YOU  THAT  YOUR  LIFE  HAS  RESULTED  TO

ROBBING  GRAVES.   THERE  IS  FORGIVENESS  WHEN  YOU  GO  TO  THE  LORD,

CONFESS  YOUR  SIN,  AND  THEN  DO  IT  NO  MORE.

********

MONDAY  WE  ARE  GOING  TO  VISIT  WITH  THE  CEMETERY  KEEPERS  AND

MY  MOTHER  IS  GOING  TO  THE  CLIPPER/  THE  HENNESSEY  PAPER  THAT  COMES

OUT  ONCE  A  WEEK AND  WILL  BE  PUTTING  A  LETTER  INTO  THE  EDITOR

WITH  A  REWARD.

THANK  YOU  AS  USUAL  FOR  LISTENING  TO  MY  WOES.  I  JUST  DON'T  UNDERSTAND

STEALING  AND  LEAST  NOT  FROM  A  GRAVE.  IT  MAKES  ME  REALLY  SAD.

********

PRAYERS  FOR  EVERYONE  CONTINUES  EVERY  DAY.  PLEASE  KNOW  YOU  ARE  BEING

PRAYED  FOR.

GRACIE  ANN  IS  IN  HER  PENNIWIG  DESIGNER  GOWN  AND  SHE  IS  SO  HAPPY

TO  WEAR  IT  TODAY,  SINCE  SHE  DID  NOT  GET  TO  WEAR  IT  FOR  VALENTINE'S

DAY.   SHE  LOVES  TO  DRESS  UP.  SHE  SAID  TO  TELL  YOU...."A  GRACIE  ANN  PECK

YOU  ARE  LOVED  AND  APPRECIATED.

Good Morning Sweet Debbie!

I am also appalled at the issue of grave decoration robbing! I come from the old fashioned people of decorating the graves of loved ones and it is atrocious that someone does such things. I feel graves are sacred ground also and they are committing a sin against our loved ones that have departed this world. Is it teenagers that have nothing better to do? Is it people that just drive through cemeteries to pick up things like it's a flea market? Only God knows I guess, and we know he DOES see. On that day they stand before God that will be on the list... I guess we have to try to forgive them and pity them "for they know not what they do".

I'm glad this was preceded by a good time at lunch! Sounds like a delightful experience. I love to watch people having fun.

I've got you on my prayer list dear one. My apologies, I thought I'd put you on my sidebar for prayer but hadn't, but I have been praying for your health. You've got to keep fighting against the diabetes Debbie. We're now done here til we take that last breath you know!! And you have lots more to do Sweetie!

Sending you lots of love & big hugs, Sherry

Oh Debbie, I was so sorry to hear about this. I live in a city where stuff like this happens all the time. It's exactly WHY I can't bring myself to watch the news for more than maybe once or twice a week. It's sad, depressing, disappointing... It angers me.. It just puts me in a state of mind that I fight to keep out of. I don't want to be sad or mad. I WANT very much so, to see the best in people... And my heart truly goes out to you when I hear something like this. What kind of person would stoop SO LOW to do something like this... It almost seems cruel that it in turn tests the love, faith, and forgiveness in YOUR OWN heart, mind, and soul. But your friends all know, Debbie, the lowest of the low can not shake you! The love in your heart, and your faith in God are too strong for that... Now as for the Red Hat Society, I think after that, I'd be running over to ask how I could join! ((Hugs)) ~tina

There is truly no excuse for this most despicable and cruel act of unkindness. I hope the low-life is apprehended PRONTO and held accountable. I am so sorry you and your family have had to suffer such abuse. God bless you and the memory of your loving daughter, who smiles down on you this and every day.

About Miss KittyBeaGaga: What a character! Truly a better feast for the eyes than the Country Buffet buffet! And I'm glad Miss KBG had the presence of mind to wear gloves sans "finger pockets". <-- The easier to eat finger foods with, my dear! LOL! What a fun red hatted-adventure!

Debbie,
How could anyone do such an awful thing? I too put beautiful things at my Dad and In-laws graves and once that happed to us too.......It is such a violation of the grief you hold for your loved one that rests there. I'm sorry for you to have to have experienced that.
I had to laugh at your luncheon description....I'm glad you could smile and enjoy the moment.
Hugs,
Lynn

Oh Debbie that is so sad. I do know that some cemeteries have very strict rules about what can and cannot be put on graves. I feel sure you checked with the folks, but maybe the caretaker removed to mow or something. I would rather think that than that someone had just stolen it. blessings

Debbie, I guess there really is no limits to the wickedness of man's heart. It is also beyond me that anyone could stoop soo low. And yet they do. I've always wondered how anyone could harm a child either, or any human being for that matter. But again, everyday it happens. Such a lost and fallen world. SIGH I will lift this situation in prayer for sure. I am glad that you had a fun time at lunch. Watching others is one of my favorite things to do. haha I could just picture these dear women. Have a wonderful day Debbie. Hugs, Debbie

Debbie, good morning sweet ones. When we lived in Sacto, I used to visit my grandfathers grave and leave lovely blooms. I have heard many times of head stones being stolen, beautiful statuary being stolen and resold. It happens all the time. It's a sad day when someone reaches this low, but it's a fact of life. I used to say that maybe someone needed it more than we, but now I just think their are evil people out there looking out for them selves with no care or concern for anyone else. Amy knows you lovingly put beautiful things there. She no longer needs them, but they comfort us. I think when others no longer believe that there is a higher power, you have lawlessness and sadly that is what we are seeing more and more of today. Please let this go, find something good to come of it and don't let your heart be broken. Maybe you shared with a family that has nothing, Amy would have liked that. Thinking of you often, Char

That is such a cool lady in her 70s that you describe and your words made me smile "a cross between Lady GaGa, Miss Kitty and Aunt Bea."
Then I read about the shock of finding your grave decorations stolen. People can go pretty low!
Maybe when the paper prints about it, and the reward, the person will turn it in. I hope so!!

Oh Debbie, it breaks my heart to hear about the wonderful items being stolen! There seems to be more and more of it too, around here there have been alot of cemeteries vandalized and things stolen too, alot of military metals and plaques, it just makes me sick to know there are people so low on this earth! Have they never lost a loved one to feel the pain of it? No matter, it doesn't excuse it ! ((big hugs)) to you sweetie and are your eyes doing any better?? Your always in my thoughts and prayers!

Debbie,
I know how it feels :( I go daily to Amber's resting place ... it is a large cemetery. At Christmas I had a small tree and a snowman on a shepherd's hook with snowmen on her headstone. After Christmas I brought the tree home and left the snowmen. After New Years I put a large snowflake on the hook and snowflakes in her vase with purple and white roses. It was winter!
I had gone by the cemetery one morning and went back before dark and her things were gone! I looked around and everyone's gravesites had been disturbed! I was furious ... I knew then that the cemetery workers had taken the things down! I was furious ... to say the least! I instantly went to the dumpster and found so many things along with Amber's that had been thrown in the dumpster! I was as mad as I have ever been in my life! I called the owner after hours and we had words... well let's say I did the talking! I told him NOT to touch my daughter's resting place EVER. I know that other people thought their loved ones things had been stolen instead the workers had removed the items.
I hope and pray that Amy's things will be returned or you will find them. I know it breaks your heart!
Blessings & Hugs,
Donna

most cemetaries here in California won't let you decorate the graves....sadly, their landscaping won't allow it...if you put flowers or anything down, they are removed within the day...

Debbie Dear ~ Bless your heart!! I know you and your husband were upset when you saw the grave missing decorations - I'm so sorry you went through that painful ordeal. Shame on those thieves!! My mother always used to say about such "well, if they're so desperate they just had to steal it, then fine, they are so miserable, we need to pity them and pray for them".

Here's another thought you might want to check into: I've heard lots of cemeteries regularly remove from graves flowers or decorations that have gotten shabby or weather-beaten (definitely not the reason for you, ever, I know). They also remove anything that marks a holiday that has already passed - in the name of keeping the place neat and whatever. The candy canes and snowman were Christmasy, so I just wonder about this possibility. Seems odd a thief wouldn't take the best thing of all, the cherub. Well, I hope you get things straightened out so ya'll can have peace of mind.

Thinking of and praying for you often....

I'm so so sorry. When you asked the question, what kind of person would steal from a grave site, well it would be a sociopath. A person with no morals, values, esteem for life; someone with no dignity or without the ability to see beyond material gain regardless of who is hurt, someone who cannot understand love and compassion and humankind, someone who is lost and probably doesn't even know it.

I hope you can get your snowman back. I wonder, however, will the person who stole it try to collect the reward? Remember -- this person is definitely a sociopath.

Gracie Ann is truly looking lovely and her gown doesn't look like she was doing any penny-pinchin. She is so classy.

So sorry that someone took from Amy's resting place......desperate people do desperate things and we should pray for them. I find this very sad.

Keep your chin up sweetie, don't get yourself too upset. It is wrong whoever did this to Amy's grave but don't let him make you or your mother ill as well, they have caused you enough grief.

So glad you enjoyed your lunch and I am praying that your eyes are much better.

..........:-) Hugs

Dear Debbie,

I must say I am shocked that someone would steal from a grave. That is the lowest of the low. How dare they? I am so sorry that you had to experience this despicable behavior. I hope that you find out who did it.

I'm glad, though, that you had a fun time at lunch watching all the Red Hat ladies.

Bless you,
Claudia

That is horrible that someone would be so heartless to do something like that. As if you haven't been through enough grief and heartache to add this on top of it. I hope that whoever did this gets his just deserts!

It just never ceases to amaze me at what some people will do. It totally blows my mind that there is no respect, caring or compassion. These people need prayer in the worst way and I know that's what we're supposed to do for them but it is difficult isn't it? My prayers go out to you and your family Debbie. I consider a final resting place as sacred ground and I believe that our Lord does too. Oh well, they will stand before Him for this action as well as any others they might commit.

Stay strong my friend! You have walked a very rocky pathy but we're all here to hold your hand. Sending you peace, strength and love!

My dear Debbie not sure if the first comment I left you a few minutes ago went through so I will try again...it said something about an error and then a number.
I am so very sorry that this happened to you and your family. This kind of act is beyond anything that we as decent people can begin to understand. It is the lowest and cruelest thing a low life can do but that is what you are dealing with. I doubt these kind of people read blogs especially ours.
We can not keep anything on my parents grave without it being taken or stolen is the better word. It hurts to have this happen and it happens on their site a lot.
I pray that this will be the one and only time you deal with such a horrible act.
Know that I think of you often and wonder how your doing. No wonder you have been on my mind all day.
Love you Debbie

Debbie, those are idiots who stole from Amy's grave. I don't want to cast blame, but probably extremely immature types, maybe they even pawned the beautiful things they took.

But they can't take anything from Amy, because she is literally and figuratively so far above them. I know her heart is full of pity for them, but mine is full of anger and ire. How dare they.

Hi Debbie: I am so sorry you were so hurt by what happened. You are such a wonderful Mom. I pray God will help you with this new hurt. It is so hard to understand why senseless things like this happen. You just kept doing what you do, let God do the rest. Praying for you dear friend. Blessings, Martha

Oh Debbie,
I am so sorry for what happend to Amy's home and for the hurt you must be feeling. I want so badly in my heart to believe it was just a bunch of young kids who don't really understand the enormity of their actions. You would have have to be a very sick individual to do something like that as an adult.
It sounds like you had a fun time watching the Red Hats and the card players! I love your description of the lady with the strawberry hair!
Blessings to you my friend! Hugs, Loretta

Good morning, Debbie!
As usual, I am rushing to catch up..and then I stopped by and read this. I am terribly sorry. Sometimes things happen that are not fair.
The book you found at such a wonderful price is a good one and a comforting one from what a have heard. I thought I had a copy of it but so far I have not found it.
I can tell you are trying to accept and be forgiving of this person or person's. Probably teens who will one day look back and be sorry.
Prayer works..
