I found this postcard on Flickr posted
by Vintage Lulu.
She states that she
bought it in Bordeaux, France.
Hand tinted April Fool's day (1st April)
The "fish" in the photo refer to the
French Tradition of "April Fish Day"
Happy April Fools Day
le poisson d'avril
April Fish Day
I like the name "Happy Fish Day"
much better than April Fools Day!
The fish symbols can be found at

We have the French to thank for this fun day.
When King Charles IX adopted the new Gregorian
Calender and New Years Day shifted from
April 1 to January 1, many rebelled and
continued to celebrate "April Fish Day".
To this day, the French continue to be up to
something "fishy" on April 1.
When their victim is not looking, they tape
a paper fish on their back.
When they discover the prank everyone
yells out,
"le poisson d'avril"
"April Fish Day."
Please remember Lori,
whose son Michael was killed in a tragic
accident on Saturday at the sand dunes in
Glamis, CA.
Noelle...Michaels' sister
This precious family needs many prayers
and much love shown to them.
and may you feel the love of Jesus
today and every day.
For He shall give His angels charge over
thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
