A NEW MISS AMERICA WAS CROWNED LAST NIGHT

Our  new  2013  Miss  America  is

24  year  old  Miss  New  York

MALLORY  HAGAN.

Her  Platform

Abused/sexually abused  children.

God  Bless  you,  Mallory,  for  the  difference

you  can  make.

I  read  Mallory's  blog.

That girl  has  just  the  right  amount

of  spunk  with  beauty...she'll  get  her

done  {{rolling  eyes  and  smiling}}  if

ya  know  what  I  mean.

She  has  a  saying  on  her  blog,  which

is  biblical  but  states

TO  WHOM

MUCH  IS  GIVEN

MUCH  IS  REQUIRED!

MISS  OKLAHOMA  was  second  runner-up

MISS  SOUTH  CAROLINA  (not  pictured)

was  first  runner-up.   She  was  beautiful.

This  was  the  first  year,  they  surprised  the

Judges  by  giving  them  a  minute  or  two  to

pick  together  the  number  sixteenth  girl  in-

stead  of  just  fifteen.   It  was  also  the  first  year

the  public  picked  one  of  the  sixteen  girls.

MISS  AMERICA  1922

MISS  AMERICA  1927

Lois  Delander

Joliet,  Illinois

Lois  was  born  on  Valentine's  Day.

She  won  Miss  America  on  her  parents'

twentieth  anniversary.

Lois  had  given  herself  so  little  a  chance

of  winning  that  she  had  packed  her  bags

for  departure  the  night  before  the  finals.

It  was  reported  that  theatrical  concerns

were  willing  to  pay  her  $1,ooo.oo  a  week  for

stage  performance,  but  Lois  worried  about

"catching  up"  in  school,  which  had  already

started  back  home.

She  said  she  won  a  scepter,  four  trophies,

a  Bulova  watch,  an  Oldsmobile,  and  a  screen

test,  which  she  never  took.

$1,ooo.oo  a  week  is  ALOTTA  MONEY  FOR

EVEN  2013.

MISS  AMERICA  1943

JEAN  BARTEL

Los  Angeles,  California

Look  at  her  crown  and  scepter

Jean  upset  tradition  by  refusing  to  pose

in  a  swimsuit  after  she  won  the  title.

Taking  the  commitment  of  a  "War-Time"

Miss  America  to  heart,  she  embarked  on  a

Bond-selling  tour  that  would  result  in  her

being  honored  by  the  United  States  Treasury

Department  for  selling  two  and  one  half  million

dollars  worth,  more  than  anyone  that  year.

You  will  have  to  go  to

to  read  more  about  her  exciting  life...and/or  any

year,  you  might  be  interested  in.

I  love  the  human-interest  aspect  of    any  given

situation.

THANK  YOU  so  much  for  joining  me  on

today...The  LORD'S  Day.

I  am  still  trying  to  catch  up  with  all  my

bloggy  friends.  If  I  haven't  stopped  by,  I  will.

I  either  cannot  get  into  your  blog  or  I  just  have

limited  time  with  my  eye  issues.

IF  WE  HAD  NO  WINTER,  THE

SPRING  WOULD  NOT  BE  SO  PLEASANT;

IF  WE  DID  NOT  SOMETIMES

TASTE  OF  ADVERSITY;

PROSPERITY  WOULD  NOT

BE  SO  WELCOME

Congratulations to Miss NY! Thanks for posting the outcome of last night's Miss America event. Wouldn't you know it? I fell asleep during the last few minutes of the show! Love that 1922 crown. You gotta wonder if tin foil was involved in its making!

I liked the new changes this year! I also learned something I did not know, Gretchen Carlson is a former Miss America! Don't know how I managed to miss that because I am an avid fan of Fox and Friends! Happy SonDay!

Hi Debbie, you made it through! I put together my own blog. The images from my header were gathered from Pinterest. Are you able to use Pinterest? Possibly not since you mentioned your computer is a wee bit "vintage"! The layout/background is all from the new template thing blogger foisted upon us last summer. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. It's an enormous hassle to switch back to the old layout in order to use the old backgrounds. Am I boring you?!

I saw Miss America was on last night but didn't watch. I used to watch every year! Have a lovely night and a great week!
