IT'S  1970'S  REWIND  WEEK

AT  ANGELA'S

STOP  BY  AND  VISIT  THE

CHARMING,  FUN,  AND  TALENTED

HOSTESS  OF  THIS  FUN  EVENT.

WE  ARE  SISTER'S  IN  THE

BLOGGERETTE  SORORITY.

IT  IS  NOT  TOOOOO  LATE  TO

JOIN  THE  SORORITY.

JUST  CLICK  THE  SORORITY

BUTTON  ON  THE  RIGHT  HAND

SIDE  OF  MY  BLOG  OR

KAREN,  THE  CREATOR  AT

WHILE  THERE,  ENTER  HER

AWESOME  GIVE  AWAY

THE  1970'S  WERE  VERY  SPECIAL  TO  ME.

IN  SOME  WAYS  IT  WAS  THE  MOST  MAGICAL

TIME  OF  MY  LIFE.

IN  OTHER  WAYS  IT  WAS  A  HORRIBLE

TIME.

DRUGS,  ESPECIALLY  LSD,  WERE  RAMPANT

AND  THE  VIET  NAM  WAR  RAGED  ON.

I  LEARN  A  LOT  ABOUT  EVERY  PROJECT

I  HAVE  STARTED  CREATING.

I  SPENT  A  LOT  OF  TIME  TRYING  TO  CREATE

THE  FACE  OF  A  PERSON  WHO  WAS  LOOKING

BACK  ON  THE  1970'S.

THE  BLUE  CLOAK  IS  THE  SYMBOL  OF  THE

WARMTH  I  FELT  DURING  THAT  TIME  FROM

BEING  IN  LOVE  WITH  RICHARD  AND  LIFE.

THE  PEACOCK  FEATHER  REPRESENTS

FEELING  PROUD  THAT  I  STAYED  CLOSE  TO

GOD  AND  THE  BLACK  HAT....THE  SUPERVISION

OF  A  STERN  FATHER  AND  THE  ROSE  FOR

A  NURTURING  MOTHER  AND  A  SISTER

WHO  ALLOWED  ME  TO  CRAWL  INTO  HER

BED,  WHEN  I  WAS  AFRAID  AT  NIGHT.

SILLY  ISN'T  IT....WOULD  ANY  ONE  HAVE  GOTTEN

FROM  MY  DRAWING  WHAT  I  INTENDED.  ART

SAYS  A  LOT.  I  LOVE  TO  LOOK  AT  ART  AND

STUDY  WHAT  THE  ARTIST  MIGHT  HAVE  BEEN

SAYING.

I  AM  A  DEEP  WELL  THAT  FLOWS  TO  THE

THRONE  ROOM  OF  GOD.

NOW  FOR  MY  1970  STORY:

MY  MR.  SIMPLY  AND  I  STARTED

HIGH  SCHOOL  IN  1970  AND  WE

GRADUATED  IN  MAY  1973.

EVERY  SPRING  FOR  THE  GRADUATING

SENIORS  WE  HAD  MAY  FETE.   THE

GRADUATING  SENIORS  DRESSED  IN  GOWN

AND  SUITS   WALKED  ACROSS

THE  BRIDGE  OF  OUR  LOCAL  PARK  SYMBOLIZING

OUR  NEW  FUTURE.

THE  SOPHOMORE  AND  JUNIOR  GIRLS  WOUND

THE  MAY  POLE.  WE  WORE  BEAUTIFUL  GOWNS

AND  WOULD  WEAVE  IN  AND  OUT  AND  TO

THE  CENTER  WINDING  THE  MAYPOLE  WITH

BEAUTIFUL  SOFT  COLORS  OF  CREPE  PAPER.

IT  WAS  NOT  AS  EASY  AS  IT  LOOKED  BUT  IT

WAS  MAGICAL  TO  ME,  LIKE  A  FAIRY  TALE.

THE  BEATLES  WERE  SO  POPULAR  AND

"BREAD"  WAS  A  BIG  NAME  BAND.

MONOPOLY  AND  ATARI  WAS

DISCOVERED.  REMEMBER  HITTING  THAT

WHITE  BALL  BACK  AND  FORTH

ACROSS  THAT  GRAY  SCREEN....PING....PING

GASOLINE  WAS  TWENTY  FIVE  CENTS  A

GALLON....25CENTS  A  GALLON.......

JUST  THE  OTHER  DAY  WE  PAID

$2.68  A  GALLON.

AFROS  AND  STRAIGHT  HAIR.  WE  ROLLED  OUR

LONG  HAIR  ON  ORANGE  JUICE  CANS.

WHITE  LIPSTICK,  PINK  AND  ORANGE

AND  BRIGHT  BLUE  AND  GREEN

EYE  SHADOW.  GREEN  WAS  MY  FAVORITE.

IT  IS  ILLEGAL  FOR  TEENAGERS  TO  SMOKE  NOW

BUT  IN  1973  IT  WAS  OVERLOOKED  AS  STUDENTS

WENT  OUT  TO  THE  SIDE  STREET  OR  THEIR  CAR

TO  SMOKE  BETWEEN  CLASSES.  MAGAZINES

AND  TV  COMMERCIALS  COULD  ADVERTISE

CIGARETTES.

YOU  COULD  HAVE  PRAYER  AT  THE  FLAG  POLE

AND  BIBLE  WAS  ACTUALLY  A  CLASS  THAT  WAS

TAUGHT...THE  DIFFERENCE  NOW...NO  BIBLE...

TEACHERS  ARE  IN  FEAR  OF  EVEN  QUOTING

THE  BIBLE  AND  YOU  CAN'T  EVEN  PRAY  BEFORE

A  FOOTBALL  GAME.

THE  DRAFT  WAS  ENDED  IN  1973.

A  NEW  BORN  BABY  WAS  NOT  REQUIRED  TO  HAVE

A  SOCIAL  SECURITY  NUMBER  AT  BIRTH....

IT  WAS  RESERVED  FOR  YOUR  FIRST  JOB....I

REMEMBER  MY  MOTHER  TAKING  ME  TO

OBTAIN  MINE  AND  HOW  EXCITED  I  WAS.

MY  MR.  SIMPLY  AND  I  WERE  MARRIED

ON  SEPTEMBER  13,  1973.

OUR  BEAUTIFUL  AMY  WAS  BORN

7/6/76

AND  OUR  HANDSOME  SON

RICHIE  WAS  BORN  IN  1983...........

THE  '80'S.........ANOTHER  TIME.

I  LOVE  YOU  RICHIE  BOY.

THANKS  FOR  READING  MOTHER'S

BLOG.  I  WILL  ALWAYS  BE  YOUR

CHEERLEADER  AND  I  AM  SOOOOO

VERY  PROUD  OF  YOU.

OUR  SON  RICHIE  GRADUATED  FROM

THE  SAME  HIGH  SCHOOL  WE  DID.  HE

WALKED  THE  HALLS  WE  WALKED  AND  HE

HAD  A  FUN  TIME  WITH  HIS  FRIENDS

LOOKING  AT  OUR  PICTURES  HANGING  IN

THE  HALLS  OF  OLE  ENID  HIGH.

THE  LOVE  OF  MY  LIFE

RICHARD  RAGAN

1973

DEBBIE  ROGERS  RAGAN

1973

AND  KEEP  YOU  UNTIL  WE

MEET  AGAIN.

THANK  YOU  ANGELA  AND

THANK  YOU  MY  FRIENDS  FOR  JOINING  ME.

BYE  RICHIE.....DON'T  WORK  TOO  HARD

HI  MEGAN...LOVE  YOU

HAVE  A  WONDERFUL  DAY.

Although I'm a just a few years older than you I so remember those days - especially using orange juice cans (or lemonade cans) as rollers. Our daughter was born just a couple of weeks before you were married. Wonderful memories.

My husband graduated in the 70's and was from a really small school. They're doing a reunion with anyone who graduated from 1970 to 1979. Fun pictures! Happy PS!
