ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS
WELCOME TO MY FIRST POST,
"WHAT'S YOUR ANSWER WEDNESDAY?"
OUR LOVELY HOSTESS
AND CREATOR IS
"SARAH",
THE BELOVED WIFE OF JAMIE
AND
THE MOTHER TO
SEVEN PRECIOUS CHILDREN.
PLEASE VISIT SARAH AND SAY HELLO
AND VISIT THE OTHER PARTICIPANTS.
EACH WEDNESDAY THERE IS A NEW
QUESTION....YOU CAN ANSWER THE QUESTION
AS BRIEF OR AS IN DEPTH AS YOU
WANT TO.
THE QUESTION TODAY:
"WHAT IS ONE (OR WHAT ARE SOME) OF THE
MEMORIES YOU HAVE OF YOUR TIME IN
SCHOOL?"
AS YOU CAN TELL FROM MY ABOVE PICTURE,
IN GRADE SCHOOL I WAS AN ADAM'S
FLYING A.
IT WAS A RED LETTER A WITH WINGS.
I TOOK TWIRLING AND LOVED RUNNING
TRACK AND BROAD JUMP.
THE FLYING A'S ALWAYS TOOK ALL THE
FIRST PLACE RIBBONS IN LITTLE OLYMPICS.
I KNOW I HAVE SHARED THIS BEFORE BUT
IT WAS MY MOST FAVORITE TIME OF
ANY OF MY SCHOOL YEARS.
WHEN I WAS IN THIRD GRADE OUR TEACHER
EVERY AFTERNOON WOULD READ A CHAPTER
TO US FROM THE BOOK,
THE BOXCAR CHILDREN.
I NEVER WANTED HER TO STOP READING.
THE BOOK WAS PROBABLY A LITTLE
SMALLER THAN 5 X 7 AND WAS A
BRIGHT RED
HARD BOUND BOOK.
I USE TO WALK UP TO HER DESK JUST
TO TOUCH THE BOOK.
THERE HAS NEVER SINCE, BEEN A BOOK
EXCEPT FOR THE BIBLE, OF COURSE, THAT
TOUCHED MY SOUL LIKE THAT BOOK.
I BOUGHT THE SERIES OF PAPERBACK
BOOKS FOR MY
DAUGHTER WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG,
BUT IT NEVER TOUCHED HER
LIKE IT DID ME.
TO THIS DAY EVERY GARAGE SALE, EVERY
ESTATE SALE, EVERY BOOK SALE AND THRIFT
STORE I LOOK FOR MY OLD RED, HARD
BOUND BOOK OF
THE BOXCAR CHILDREN.
IT WOULD BRING ME SUCH JOY TO OWN
THIS BOOK.
AND KEEP YOU UNTIL WE BLOG AGAIN.
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY TO SEE ME.
IT MEANS A LOT TO ME.
PLEASE REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING

nice memories...
i have so many...
my long term memory is better than short term...i'm very thankful that wasn't affected during my GBS trauma...i can still plainly see the faces of Mrs. Hamme, Mrs. Donohue, Mr. Hetrick...oh there were so many...the lunchroom ladies wore white dresses and had beautiful hankies pinned at the top...lunch cost a quarter and an ice cream sandwich for dessert was a dime :D
wonderful memories...

What an adorable picture of you! Thanks for sharing your memories.
Loved hearing about your childhood. I hope God brings that red book treasure across your path. :)
Debbie, this is such a great post! You were an adorable little girl! My mother's favorite book is the Boxcar Children and she bought it for me as a child as well. My daughter, Selah, is especially enamored with them (she is 4) and she calls them the "Boxing Children"...Ha! Thank you for sharing your memories with us and for participating in my first meme. It is so fun to hear everyone's special memories!
Sarah
I LOVED WHEN MY THIRD GRADE TEACHER READ THE TRIXIE BELDON (SPELLED WRONG I THINK) AND LIKE YOU IT WAS A WONDERFUL PART OF MY SCHOOL LIFE. HAVE A GREAT DAY....:-) HUGS
Thank you for sharing! The boxcar children was one of my siblings and I's favorite book. = ) I hope you find the one your looking for. =)
I think my sweetest memories are from 2nd grade. I had a wonderful teacher, and every Friday we got treats if we made a 100 on the spelling test. I can remember how sad I was if I didn't make a 100, but that wasn't very often. Most of the time, she would give us popcorn.
What lovely memories you are sharing. I remember that series myself, I'll have to get my daughter to read them. You look so adorable in your picture! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Many blessings,
Jill
Well now I've got a mission, huntin' down that book for you! I know what you mean about having a story just "speak" to your heart! I was like that with the Walter Farley horse series, lol. The Black Stallion, etc. Oh, I would tremble just to hold the books.
Love your memory and this is sure a new fun theme for your blog, too!
Your 3rd grade teacher didn't happen to be named Mrs. Patton, did she? That was my 3rd grade teacher's name and she read the Boxcar Children to us too. I SO LOVED that book!
YOU HAVE SOME NICE MEMORIES THERE DEBBIE.
THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS FOR OTHERS TOO.
TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH - I LOVED SCHOOL - ALL OF IT - EVERY GRADE. MY KIDS COULND'T BELIEVE IT BUT IT WAS TRUE.
SLEEP TIGHT.

Oh dear Debbie it is so good to visit with you. Had some bad days lately recovering from a throat and sinus infection. This is a beautiful post. I so loved school all the way through. No pictures that I can find. I will also keep my eyes out the The Boxcar Children. I don't remember it as a child nor did my children have it. We must have missed something. I do know of that book. Blessings

What sweet memories you have of grade school...and good in track too!
Sweet. Love your picture too..
I remember being in Grade 1 and our teacher Ms Phisherson would drink tea in the afternoons while we had stories.
It was such a big thing that she would choose each afternoon someone to wash her teacup in the staff room.
I remember having the chance to take her cup and saucer into the room....very special. :o)

Hi Debbie, How wonderful to be able to visit again, hope all is well with you. I enjoyed this post so much, and if I run across the book when I am out and about I will get it for you.
Love the picture too. I have so many fond memories of school as I loved it. I guess the fondest memory would be the day I met my now sweet husband in the hallway as he stopped to talk to me, Oh! be still my heart. love at first site.lol
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hugs,
Sue

such nice memories. My mother used to read to us at bedtime, my fvorite was "The Secret Garden" her favorites were Laura Ingalls books and she was so sad that I didn't adore them too.
My best school memory - Second Grade. I had the adored Mrs. Brenda and she took me to lunch at Pizza Hutt once- during the school day!- She had mother's permission of course and she did it with all the children, took two or three at a time. Times were different then.
Hi Debbie, I put that book on list and put your name beside it, if I ever find it I'll be sending it to you!!! hugs~~~ Daphne
A dress my mom made for me. I didn't want to wear it and I remember crying because it had this huge bow in the back. (What a little brat). Since I was clearly not in charge, I wore the dress, everyone loved it, my best friend wanted one just like mine and it was the best day ever! My mother saved the dress and the story just continues to change..:)
Have a lovely day and great post!
OMGosh! I just saw your adorable greeter! I have one just like yours, he is black and silver with some s&p.
He is the jewel of my heart!!
I am a schnauzer lover forever!
Debbie sweetie if I ever find this book at Warrenton/Round Top Antiques Fair it is yours.
I would love to surprise you with it.
What a lovely post.
thinking of you and wanted to stop by and say hello
Love ya
