XOXOXOXOXO...AMY...XOXOXOXOXO
ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS
I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO NOT HAVE A POLITICAL
BLOG. THEY SAY IT OPENS YOUR BLOG UP TO HATRED.
BUT IN THIS CASE, I FELT I COULD NOT KEEP MY MOUTH
CLOSED. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FOR THE
"UNDERDOG" WHETHER RICH, POOR, BLACK OR WHITE,
GREY OR TURQUOISE, SHABBY CHIC OR TRADITIONAL.
I WAS BORN IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND
MOTHER AND DADDY HAVE TOLD ME HOW SCARY
IT WAS TO SEE THE KKK BURNING CROSSES.
THEY SAW RACISM...THEY HAVE TOLD ME OF
THE SIGNS THAT DID NOT ALLOW THE AFRICAN
AMERICAN TO DRINK FROM THE WATER FAUCET
THAT WE COULD. THAT ALWAYS TROUBLED ME.
I REMEMBER AS A YOUNG CHILD, TRYING TO
FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH "THEM!"
THEY WALKED LIKE I DID, THEY TALKED, THEY ATE,
THEY CRIED WHEN THEY SCRAPED THEIR KNEE,
THEY LIKED TO SWING, TEETER-TOTTER, AND THEY
LAUGHED...BUT WHEN I WOULD SMILE at them,
THEY PUT
THEIR HEADS DOWN AND THEIR MOTHERS WOULD
WALK THEM AWAY. FOR A LONG TIME, BEING
YOUNG, I THOUGHT THEIR WAS SOMETHING WRONG
WITH ME.
WITH "ALL" THAT WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH...
AND now HAVING AN AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT
I THOUGHT WE WERE THROUGH WITH RACISM.........
SHIRLEY SHERROD
(is she not a beautiful woman)
I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN
"INJUSTICE",
AS WAS, DONE TO THIS LADY.
SHE WAS TALKING BEFORE THE
NAACP,
ABOUT HOW THINGS "WERE"
IN THE PAST AND HOW WHEN
SHE WAS 17 YEARS OLD A WHITE
MAN KILLED HER FATHER IN
A RACIAL ACT...."PROBABLY, RACIAL"
SHE SAID!
DO-GOODIES OR EVEN BAD-DOERS
TOOK A SINGLE SENTENCE BASICALLY
AND DESTROYED THIS WOMAN'S CAREER
AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANT
HER HONOR, HER TRUST, AND
HER DIGNITY....
YOU CAN READ THE STORY FOR
YOURSELF. COME TO A CONCLUSION
FOR YOURSELF.......
THIS WOMAN HAS BEEN THROUGH
HELL OVER THE PAST 48 HOURS.
IT WAS DONE TO HER,
SHIRLEY SHERROD,
NOT THE NAACP, NOT FOX NEWS,
NOT THE MEDIA.
WE MUST AS A SOCIETY STOP
THIS FINGER POINTING AND
RUNNING WITH A STORY THAT
WILL DESTROY AN INDIVIDUAL
UNJUSTLY AND CAUSE RACIAL
DIVIDE.
AGRICULTURE SECRETARY TOM
VILSACK APOLOGIZED TO SHIRLEY
AND HE SAID SHIRLEY
WAS GRACIOUS AND ACCEPTED
HIS APOLOGY.
SOMEONE SWEET, SOMEONE
BEAUTIFUL, WITH FANCY WORDS
TELLS A STORY.....THAT THEY
KNOW TO
BE PARTIAL TRUTH
BUT WAY...
WAY...
OUT OF CONTEXT...
BUT YET SHIRLEY SHARED
HER HEART TO GET TO A PLACE
WHERE SHE COULD SHARE...
GOD SHOWED HER
IT IS NOT THE COLOR OF SKIN
BUT ABOUT POOR PEOPLE
NEEDING HELP.
SHE THOUGHT HER MESSAGE
WAS NEEDED TO BRING
HEALING.
HAVE YOU EVER TOLD THE
TRUTH ABOUT SOMETHING
THAT HAD A COMMENT....
IF SOMEONE TOOK ONE
SENTENCE OUT OF CONTEXT
IT WOULD LEAVE PEOPLE
NOT LIKING YOU BECAUSE
THEY TOOK THE WORDS OF A
BEAUTIFUL PERSON, AND NEVER
BOTHERED TO FIND OUT THE
TRUE STORY.
THERE ARE ALWAYS
"TWO SIDES"
TO EVERY STORY.
IT IS SO VERY EASY
TO SPREAD GOSSIP,
THAT WILL FEUL
YOUR CAUSE.
PLEASE DON'T THROW THE BABY
OUT WITH THE BATH WATER
BECAUSE YOU CHOOSE TO NOT
FIND OUT THE REAL STORY!!!
I GEUSS THAT IS WHY I LIKE
TO BE A JOURNALIST
VERSES A DIVA.
I said Journalist....
not a Reporter, who is so anxious to
get the story, become famous...get the
viewers that you will destroy any body.
It is about
ACCOUNTABILITY
and
RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~
SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO WAIT
UNTIL WE STAND BEFORE GOD
TO HAVE OUR HEARTS TRULY
HEALED, BECAUSE GOD KNOWS
ALL THINGS
BUT IN SHIRLEY SHERROD'S
CASE,
GOD INTERVENED
BECAUSE WHAT HAPPENED
TO SHIRLEY
WOULD HAVE SUCH
UNJUST DIVISION AMONG
THE RACES.
~~~~~~~~~~
HEAR A JUST CAUSE, O LORD,
ATTEND TO MY CRY;
GIVE EAR TO MY PRAYER THAT
IS NOT FROM DECEITFUL LIPS.
LET MY VINDICATION COME FROM
YOUR PRESENCE;
LET YOUR EYES LOOK ON THE THINGS
THAT ARE UPRIGHT.
YOU HAVE TESTED MY HEART;
YOU HAVE VISITED ME IN THE
NIGHT;
YOU HAVE TRIED ME AND
HAVE FOUND
NOTHING;
I HAVE PURPOSED THAT MY
MOUTH SHALL NOT
TRANSGRESS.
~PSALM 17: 1 - 3
~~~~~~~~~~
THE
"TRUTH".....
IT IS A GOOD THING
BUT PEOPLE
SEEM TO FIND IT
NOT INTERESTING
ENOUGH!!!!
WHY???????
HUGS TO ALL MY
TRUTH-SEEKING FRIENDS!!!
SHIRLEY SHERROD,
I DON'T KNOW YOU PERSONALLY,
BUT MY SPIRIT IS OF YOUR
SPIRIT.
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.
SIMPLY DEBBIE
Well said Sister!
Debbie
Hi Debbie. Sorry it took so long to return your visit. I had a hectic weekend and then have been Auntie duty because the little one's mommy is out of town for work training. I am afraid to say I haven't heard of this story. I will have to go and read it. It brings to mind the "game" you play where you sit in a row, one person whispers something to the person next to them, and on and on down the line. When the person at the end of the line says aloud what they were told, most of the time it is a GREAT exaggeration of what the story was at the beginning.
Thank you for sharing a piece of your heart and what you consider to be an outrage. God Bless you.
Debbie, I have been following this story and am so glad the truth surfaced as fast as it did. I love the way CNN handled it, they checked it out before jumping all over this lovely woman, the kind of woman our world needs more of. I am not left or right, heck I am not even American but I am a Canadian who couldn't believe what was done to this woman. I'm glad you spoke out Debbie, more people should speak up. We are all children of God....:-)Hugs
Debbie I haven't heard of this story either - I hate injustice for anyone - any color - any sex - any creed. It's not right.
You tell 'em, Debbie!
I don't know what happened to journalism. It used to be a fine profession. People were proud of trying to print and find the truth of a matter. Now I guess it boils down to searching for shock value or clicks or sheer ratings. The world is in a sorry state!!!
I've been away from the computer and tv for most of the week, so I haven't heard anything about what happened to this woman, excepting what you wrote.
I hate it when the media gets ahold of something and twists it. Much like scripture being misused, picking and choosing and taking things out of context.
I am young enough that I don't remember racial discrimination--since I wasn't born until the mod-sixties, I (thankfully!) missed out on that. I've just never understood why any race would consider themselves superior to another. And it just appalls me that African-Americans were not allowed to eat in restaurants, use the same restrooms, etc...
Debbie, I'm thankful that you are brave enough to speak your mind and stand for the truth!
Hugs from Heidi
Thank you sweetness for sharing this story. All I can add is Amen Sister. When we don't stand for something we fall for anything.
